William Benner

Biography

As President and CTO of Pangolin Laser Systems, a multi-national organization with offices in the United States, Central Europe and China, William R. Benner Jr. sets the general strategic direction for the company and oversees all company operations. As CTO, he supervises all
hardware and software development as well as research and development on new products, which tend to strongly influence the future direction of the laser- and SMS-display industries.

In addition to having received more than 20 international awards for technical achievement, Benner’s products are used by some of the best-known companies in the world, including Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, DreamWorks, Boeing, Samsung, and Lawrence Livermore Labs.

Beyond his work at Pangolin, Benner has served as a director on several boards as well as Technical Committee Chairman for the International Laser Display Association. He has also consulted for companies outside of Pangolin including NEOS, Cambridge Technologies, RMB Miniature Bearings and many others.

Benner holds numerous Patents, and has received personal letters of commendation from President Ronald Reagan and Florida Governor Bob Graham. He has also been published in the SMPTE Journal, The Laserist, LaserFX, EDN magazine and Motorola’s Embedded Connection magazine. He represented the state of Florida in the United States Skill Olympics and represented the U.S. in International Skill Olympics trials, receiving gold medals for each. Benner has also received the International Laser Display Associations’ highest accolade, the Career Achievement Award.
