Julie Grant, RHU
Registered Health Underwriter
Founder and President, Insurance Research Associates, Inc

Julie Grant graduated from the University of Washington with BA and MA degrees in History.
After completing college, Julie started her career in the insurance industry as an independent life and health insurance agent, specializing in disability income protection for physicians, dentists and attorneys. She received one of the first “commission only” appointments in the industry from a national firm, earning top production rankings every year during her tenure with the firm.

To meet the expanding needs of her clients Julie established her own agency, Insurance Research Associates, and incorporated in 1994. Under her leadership as president, the firm has appointments with over 70 national carriers and many regional insurance associations and trusts. Julie has successfully managed and built the agency so it now serves over a thousand clients. The guiding principles in buiding the agency have been to provide quality products, careful attention to detail and excellent service.

Since 2005 Julie has worked with the National Association of College Fund Advisors and has recently earned the Bank on Yourself Certified Advisor designation. For over 25 years she has been a member in good standing with the National and Washington Associations of Health Underwriters (NAHU and WAHU). She earned her Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) designation in 1986.

In addition to insurance, Julie has a keen interest in real estate, dating back to her college years, during which time she worked on commercial and residential development projects in King and Snohomish counties. She currently owns and manages commercial properties in the Puget Sound region, Fort Worth, Texas and Winston Salem, North Carolina.

With a desire to make a difference in the community, Julie participated in the leadership program, Advance Bellevue, graduating with the Class of 1995. She has served on several non-profit boards and supported fund raising events for numerous charitable organizations, including Washington Women in Need (WWIN), Northwest Harvest and Emergency Feeding Program. Julie is also an enthusiastic patron of the arts, providing financial support to Pacific Northwest Ballet; she also subscribes to Seattle Opera and frequently attends performances of the Seattle Symphony and other performing arts groups.
