Biography

Dr. Jennifer Harrison is a Certified Athletic Therapist, Chiropractor, Certified BodyTalk Practitioner, educator, author, membership website creator and public speaker. She works with an amazing group of people at an interdisciplinary clinic called Active Back to Health Centre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She also incorporates
a wide variety of techniques into her practice. Dr. Harrison is currently the only person in the world with her training and experience.
Dr. Harrison has instructed at post-secondary institutions in Calgary. She taught Advanced Anatomy and Physiology for seven years at a local massage therapy college. She also did an annual guest lecture on the Role of Chiropractic in Sports Medicine at Mount Royal (College) University for the Athletic Therapy Program for 7 years as well as a doing a guest lecture on mind-body medicine at the University of Calgary. Dr. Harrison has developed professional courses for Athletic Therapists, Massage Therapists and Physiotherapists and teaches across Canada.
In 2007, Dr. Harrison also became a BodyTalk Access Trainer. (BodyTalk Access is a one day course, available to anyone, where you learn five core BodyTalk Techniques, including Cortices, which can be applied for daily self-care or to help family and friends.) In 2009, she was invited to join the International BodyTalk Association Access Review Committee which is responsible for evaluating applications from people around the world who want to study to become BodyTalk Access Trainers.
Dr. Harrison has a passion for writing. She has been featured in Impact Magazine, a Canadian health and fitness magazine, as well as the International BodyTalk Association newsletter, which reaches thousands of people around the world. She posts monthly articles on her membership website www.drjenniferharrison.com which cover topics on bodymind health, nutrition, exercise, money, relationships and something she calls “the bigger picture” where she talks about the merging of science and spirituality. In 2015, she published her first book called, Stressed Self to Best SelfTM: A Body Mind Spirit Guide to Creating a Happier and Healthier You.
After studying the mind and body as separate entities at university (with a psychology major and zoology minor), in the late 1980’s she started studying mind-body medicine which demonstrates the interwoven, inseparable link between the mind and body. In 1990, she had a spiritual reawakening and embarked on a new path. Through her personal experiences as well as her studies, particularly with the BodyTalk System and through her church, she has developed a deep understanding of the mind-body- spirit connection and the impact stress can have upon it.
Dr. Harrison embraces the belief that we’re all on a never-ending life journey, the purpose of which is to learn from both our mistakes and our successes so we can grow and help others. She also feels that to truly live up to our potential, we need to overcome the pressures of life so that we can go from our stressed self to our best self!
