Biography

Carl J. Blackburn, O.D. was an undergraduate at the University of Oklahoma and received his Optometry degree from the University of Houston / College of Optometry.

Carl is a member of the Texas Optometric Association, the
American Optometric Association and the Energeyes Association. He is licensed by the Texas Optometry Board as a Therapeutic Optometrist and an
Optometric Glaucoma Specialist.

Carl is a member of the Optometric Business Academy Advisory Panel. He was a lecturer from 2006 until 2010 at the Optometric Business Academy’s Elite Seminars. He frequently contributes practice management and motivational articles to Foresight and the Acuity in Business optometric publications and the Energeyes Association’s website and newsletter. He lectures nationally on practice management: Dynamic Growth in an Optometric Practice – Getting to the Next Level.

Carl J. Blackburn is a Professional Development Consultant for a leading contact lens manufacturer. He conducts national seminars to help Doctors understand techniques that will help them build their contact lens practices.

Throughout his optometric career, Carl has been recognized as a practice management innovator. In 2006, he was named Innovator of the Year by the Optical Division of Walmart. For his work in creating Eye+Tech, the one-hour optical superstore concept, he was featured in management guru Tom Peters’ video series, The Next Step – Innovation in Customer Service.

He is currently working on a book about the discovery of some secret manuscripts attributed to Thomas Aquinas.
